All Participants are asked to orally present their work. In addition to the oral presentation, participants can present their work as a traditional poster or as an outstanding alternative presentation.

A participant can attend the EMPSEB conference only once during their PhD studies.

Oral Presentation Guidelines

  • The presentation should last no longer than 15 minutes. It includes 12 minutes presentation and 3 minutes of discussion. If the presentation extends beyond the allowed time, the organisers have the right to interrupt it.
  • Please bring your presentation file on a USB flash drive.
  • Presenters are kindly requested to upload their presentations on the morning before the beginning of the conference.
  • The file’s name should start with the session name followed by the hour and then with the presenter’s name.
  • Please prepare your presentation in .ppt, .pptx (Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003-2017 format), or pdf file.
  • Presentations will be removed from the presentation computer hard drive at the end of each session.
  • There will be no option of using your own laptop.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • All posters must be prepared in English.
  • Poster boards will accommodate A0-size posters in portrait (vertical) format.

Alternative Presentation Guidlines

The alternative session allows for your total creative freedom over your scientific communication. Poetry? Creative dance? A sculpture? The sky is the limit! We will work around your submission styles to get you what you need to shine, be it a microphone, projector, display stand, or Peregrine falcon. Dare to dream.

Feel free to present an experiment or even an overview of your PhD. We look forward to your submissions!

Registration and abstract submission

Abstraction submission was closed on 19th January. Thank you for your contribution!

Registration fee to EMPSEB29 is 450€.
You should have received via email an invoice from us whether your abstract has been accepted, with instruction of how to transfer the fee to us. Make sure the payment is made before the deadline 22.03.2024 to secure your spots.

The registration fee includes

  • Airport shuttle
  • 4 nights/ 5 days accommodation
  • Admission to all oral presentations/ poster sessions/alternative presentation
  • Free access to all our workshops and Team building activities
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion panel which is supported by the Society of Experimental Biology
  • Digital conference program book and a digital copy of the abstract book
  • Buffet breakfast (for 4 days)
  • Two refreshment breaks per day (for 5 days)
  • Buffet Lunch (for 5 days).
  • Buffet Dinner (for 4 days) including a special closing Gala Dinner
  • Special dietary requirements (vegan, lactose-free, etc.) can be take care of.
  • Relaxation & wellbeing activities in the wellness area

  • Deadline for registration fee payment is 22.03.2024
  • Abstract Outcome was announced on 30.01.2024.
  • Abstract Submission deadline was 19th January at 23:59
  • Deadline for travel grants is 31st January
  • Start of EMPSEB29: 3rd of June

Abstract Formatting Guidelines

  • All abstracts must be written in English.
  • The abstract title is limited to 250 characters.
  • The abstract affiliation has no limits.
  • The maximum abstract length is 250 words (not including title and affiliation)
  • No tables or graphics can be submitted.
  • Abstracts cannot contain a list of references.
